Chargers kicker Michael Badgley has been ruled out for week 2

NFL: AFC Wild Card-Los Angeles Chargers at Baltimore Ravens Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers will be without their outstanding kicker once again this week. Michael Badgley has been ruled out ahead of today’s contest with the Detroit Lions. Adam Schefter reported the kicker would miss today’s game on Sunday NFL Countdown moments ago.

Ty Long, who made his debut last week, will again be tasked with all kicking and punting duties. The punter was perfect on extra point and field goal attempts against the Colts, and today he will have the benefit of working in a dome. The former CFL player was the first since Olindo Mare in 1997 to have a field goal, extra point, and punt in his first career NFL game.

Today is only Long’s second career game, but if he can continue to keep the Chargers’ kicking game afloat while the Money Badger is sidelined, he will have proven himself to be a valuable contributor to the team.
