The Los Angeles Chargers’ cornerback situation was bad on Sunday with by the end only Brandon Facyson and Casey Hayward able to take the field. Things have not improved today with the news that veteran corner Trevor Williams is being placed on Injured Reserve. The Chargers beat writer for the OC Register, reported the story via Twitter this morning:
Chargers placed cornerback Trevor Williams on injured reserve. He sustained a quad injury in training camp

The dreams of Williams bouncing back with an injury-free season after last year’s injury-plagued season are now dead. Williams will not even see the field in 2019. This is truly unfortunate news for both the Chargers and for Williams’ career. This move will, at least, allow Tom Telesco and co. to make a move to bolster the defense’s depth in the secondary as the team gets ready to take on the Lions in Detroit this coming Sunday, though it goes without saying that said depth will not be of the same caliber as Williams.
