Los Angeles Chargers announce 2019 practice squad signings

NFL: Preseason-New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Chargers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers have officially announced 9 signings to their practice squad of players following yesterday’s cuts.. The players who have passed through waivers and have been signed to the practice squad so far are:

  • G Chris Brown
  • G Spencer Drango
  • CB Kemon Hall
  • DE Anthony Lanier
  • WR Jason Moore
  • RB Detrez Newsome
  • WR Andre Patton
  • WR Artavis Scott
  • TE Matt Sokol

It was exciting to see Newsome, Lanier, and Scott, in particular, clear waivers as all three were realistic options for the final 53-man roster yesterday. Newsome was just beaten out by Troymaine Pope, Lanier by Chris Peace, and Scott by Dontrelle Iman. It would not be a surprise to see any of the three find their way to the active roster throughout the regular season. They are all capable players and each will likely get an opportunity to stick on an NFL roster sooner than later either in Los Angeles or elsewhere.

UPDATE: Linebacker Curtis Akins of Memphis will be signing with the Chargers after being released by the Cincinnati Bengals.
