Los Angeles Chargers at Arizona Cardinals open thread

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Chargers Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers return to live game action tonight against the Arizona Cardinals for the first time since being eliminated from the playoffs by the New England Patriots back in January.

The Cardinals will have a completely different look from what we saw from them last year in no small part because they fired their head coach after one season and replaced him with Kliff Kingsbury who runs an up-tempo Air Raid style attack on offense. They also used the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft to select Kyler Murray who is one of the most exciting quarterback prospects in years.

The Chargers are without Melvin Gordon thanks to his insistence on being grossly overpaid, but they will still have an excellent backfield with Austin Ekeler, Detrez Newsome, and Justin Jackson. Defensively, the Chargers are more athletic than they have ever been in my memory and they should be very fun to watch.

Tonight should be a very interesting glimpse into what we can expect from the Chargers this eason.
