REPORT: Chargers activate LB Jatavis Brown from PUP

He’s got some catching up to do

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Los Angeles Chargers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Charger get some positive injury related news today as they have activated LB Jatavis Brown from the PUP list.

Jatavis is fighting an uphill battle now to secure a spot with any significant playing time. The Chargers have invested multiple picks at the LB position the last 2 years, as well as bringing in some talented UDFA’s. And those young players are apparently doing everything they can to make an impact. Every time Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley is interviewed he has been raving about how the Linebacker unit has been performing in practice.

Jatavis has the potential to be very good, and we have seen some flashes of it, but he needs to get the reps in and stay healthy to try and beat out some of these younger players who can match his athleticism on the field.

Although it’s probably too late for him to be able to play on Thursday Night’s preseason opener, he has the benefit of a few years with the system which minimizes that lost playing time.
