The Los Angeles Chargers have apparently made a move to try and get something moving in any direction with their standoff with holdout RB Melvin Gordon.
Some potentially big news for the #Chargers: They have given the reps for Melvin Gordon permission to seek a trade, sources say. He’ll explore his options, which include returning. But big few days.

This is a smart move by the Chargers. It doesn’t close the door on him returning, but it does get things moving. Either the Chargers get an offer they like, or if the offers are bad, it may help swing momentum back to the Chargers in contract negotiations by showing Melvin Gordon’s camp what teams would be willing to offer/pay for him. Since it’s Gordon’s camp out there searching for a trade partner, undoubtedly long term contract numbers would be part of those discussions.
Hopefully this gets things moving fast enough that the MGIII holdout saga will be resolved one way or another in the next few days so that the team can really focus in earnest on week 1 and the Indianapolis Colts.
