Los Angeles Chargers vs. San Francisco 49ers Open Thread

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Chargers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight, the win-less Los Angeles Chargers visit the undefeated San Francisco 49ers for game 4 of the preseason. This is the last chance for the players trying to make the bottom of the 53-man roster to impress the coaching staff. At quarterback, Philip Rivers and Tyrod Taylor are obviously locked in, but there is a battle for the third spot. Both Easton Stick and Cardale Jones have flashed promise this preseason, but only the rookie really has any potential worth writing home about. They will presumably each be given an opportunity to prove they belong tonight.

Defensively, there is a less flashy though arguably more meaningful competition for the fourth defensive end. Anthony Lanierand Chris Peace have both made compelling cases for being kept, but it is unlikely the team will be able to fit both onto the roster come final cuts.

And finally, perhaps the closes thing to excitement we will get tonight is our first glimpse of second-round pick, Nasir Adderley in live game action.
