During the Chargers second preseason contest against the New Orleans Saints, linebacker Uchenna Nwosu pulled up on a play in the third quarter in which the Saints quarterback threw for a touchdown.
Nwosu halted his pass rush and immediately grabbed for his hip. Within the next plays, Nwosu was not seen on the Los Angeles sideline and likely headed straight to the locker room for the training staff to get a better look at him.
Nwosu is likely the Chargers’ third pass-rusher behind Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram heading into the 2019 season. He has played mostly LEO during the first two preaseason games but can also play the OTTO position in base defensive looks.
If his injury winds up being severe, the Chargers will have thin depth behind Bosa and Ingram, considering former 2018 UDFA Patrick Afriyie is also currently sidelined by an injury.
