We are only a few weeks away from the beginning of the 2019 NFL regular season, and after a great regular season that ended in disappointment in the playoffs, Chargers fans are entering the pre-season mostly filled with confidence.
We are now into the second season of our SB Nation FanPulse surveys, and we are kicking things off by reviewing how confident Chargers fans are about the direction of the team. As you’ll see, it has mostly held around 75%, but public opinion has dropped since the post-draft high.

That drop is most likely a result of two primary factors. Chargers’ top draft picks, Jerry Tillery and Nasir Adderley, have been injured and missed the first game of the pre-season. And there is also the more obvious fact of star running back Melvin Gordon holding out.
Still, confidence and expectations remain high. The Chargers have one of the National Football League’s most talented rosters. Unfortunately, they share a division with Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs who are very likely to repeat as division champs. In fact, when fans of all 32 teams were asked which team would not repeat as division champs, only the New England Patriots received fewer votes.
