Throughout the middle rounds of the NFL Draft, teams like to get creative and instead of listening to Commissioner Roger Goodell repeat name after name after name, they will ask former players, new and old, to make the team’s selection for them.
Last year, the Chargers invited former running back LaDainian Tomlinson and safety Darrell Stuckey to announce the team’s second and third-round picks.
This year, the Chargers have asked former linebacker Shawne Merriman, their first-round pick from the 2005 draft, to present their second-round selection on Day 2 of the NFL Draft.
64 former and active players will announce selections at the 2019 NFL Draft (Rounds 2 and 3).
