Breaking: Chargers bringing back Denzel Perryman

The Chargers lock up Denzel Perryman before FA begins.

NFL: New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Chargers Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

With Free Agency inching closer and closer, the Chargers have locked up one of their bigger name impending Free Agents, LB Denzel Perryman.

The injury prone, but solid when he’s on the field, ILB is staying in LA on a 2 year deal. The dollar value of the deal isn’t available yet but a 2 year contract makes sense here as Perryman is very injury prone. The team likes what they’ve seen on the field enough to give him an extension, but after 4 seasons in the NFL he has yet to start more than 11 games in a season, and over the last 2 seasons has only seen the field for half of the regular season games the team has played.

I was leaning towards not wanting to bring Perryman back, however on the short deal and considering how thin the Chargers are at ILB without him, I understand the desire to keep him. As long as the money makes sense, I don’t think you can be mad at this signing. And hopefully he’s shaken whatever curse someone placed on him and he’s able to play all 32 games over the next 2 seasons.
