With the 2019 NFL regular season in the books, the fine folks of Pro Football Focus today released their 2019 NFL All-Pro Team. While no member of the 5-11 Los Angeles Chargers merited inclusion on the first-team, three were selected as member of the second-team.
Those selections will come as no surprise to anyone that watched this year’s team. On the offensive side of the ball, PFF selected running back Austin Ekeler in their “Flex-O” spot behind first-teamer Julio Jones. You really can’t argue with that. At one of the two Edge positions on defense, Joey Bosa got the nod behind Green Bay’s Za’Darius Smith. And at cornerback, Casey Hayward slotted in behind PFF’s cornerback of the decade, Richard Sherman.
All three Chargers selections were well deserved and the only other member of the team that you could even begin to make an argument for being snubbed is Keenan Allen, but the receiver position is insanely competitive right now. I don’t think even the biggest homer Chargers fans are going to argue that Allen had a better season than Chris Godwin, DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Evans, or Michael Thomas.
