NFL Bets: The Degenerate Gambler carves out some juicy bets

After cashing in on the Chiefs game, our betting friend aims a mile high for the Broncos

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen! As you are well-aware, our gambling friend—the aptly-named Degenerate Gambler—is at it again. Each week he puts $100 of his hard-won money on the line to try and exit the week a bit wealthier than he entered it. Sometimes the Chargers win and he profits, and sometimes the Chargers lose and he profits. Of course, there’s also the chance that he loses everything in a given week because he had both teams figured out incorrectly.

Last week was a tough cookie for the Bolts to swallow. They had a genuine chance to make a huge stride in their 2019 campaign, but an equal or greater calamity awaited them if they should lose. As things would have it, the Chargers fell short of besting the Chiefs. That said, the shrewd gambler might have still been able to win that round. Let’s see how the Degenerate Gambler fared in Mexico.

Week 11 Chargers Vs. Chiefs (Mexico City)

  • Wager 1 - Chargers Spread (+4.0) : $15.00 [ -110 ] L
  • Wager 2 - Highest Scoring Half - 2nd & OT : $ 25.00 [ -115 ] WIN $21.74
  • Wager 3 - Longest TD - Under 44.5 yards : $20.00 [ -115 ] WIN $17.39
  • Wager 4 - Team with longest TD - Chargers : $20.00 [ +120 ] L
  • Wager 5 - Successful 2 pt conversion - Yes : $20.00 [+350 ] WIN $70.00

TOTAL WIN: $74.13 profit

2019 Year-to-date profit: $157.14

Yowza! Not only did our friend accurately predict that there would be a 2-point conversion (and bid pretty heavily on a [+350] wager), but his success last game nearly doubled his 2019 win total! There’s something to be said for going big, and our anti-hero lives hard and dies hard by that mantra.

The 2018 Chargers showed a guidebook for how to pull out an upset win over the Chiefs, and that meant gutsy plays and probably playing catch-up. While the 2019 version didn’t end quite as magically, here’s hoping that you took the Gambler’s recommendations and left that otherwise terrible week with a smile.

The Chargers now head to Denver with last-place in the division up for grabs. Of course, the Chargers also hold on to a .08% playoff chance at this moment, so there’s every reason to expect that they will continue to play hard. Let’s see what the Gambler feels about this match.

Week 13 Chargers @ Broncos

  • Wager 1 - Chargers spread (-3) : $ 25.00 [ EVEN] Possible win: $25.00
  • Wager 2 - Chargers up first half (-1) : $ 25.00 [ -115 ] Possible win: $21.74
  • Wager 3 - Total Points (Under 38.5) : $ 25.00 [ -110 ] Possible win: $22.73
  • Wager 4 - First score - Chargers TD : $ 15.00 [ +210 ] Possible win: $31.50
  • Wager 5 - Total points - Even : $ 10.00 [ +110 ] Possible win: $11.00

TOTAL POSSIBLE WIN: $111.97

There’s not much that we can decipher from this, other than he expects the Chargers to bounce back in week 13. With the Degenerate Gambler picking the Chargers to win the first half and the total game, it’s reasonable to think that Philip Rivers is going to be fired up and ready to respond to the retirement rumors that have been swirling. Here’s hoping that he does find that drive! However, we can also see that the Gambler is taking an unusually low Under bet, with the game total points coming in at under 38.5.

It’s possible that both scenarios can be true, especially with the return of Derwin James a possibility!

The longest-shot of the week for our gambling friend is that the Chargers put the first points on the board of the day with a TD. It might seem odd that he phoned in his final bet by throwing in $10 for an even total score. Knowing the Degenerate Gambler’s mind, he might just be realizing that there’s a chance that he loses every above bet if the Broncos start scoring right out of the gate. At least he can continue to cheer for something by the 4th quarter if he was so very, very wrong in every other detail.

If he happens to be right in believing in the Chargers this week, though, it won’t be his turkey that gets cooked this week.
