Breaking: Chargers place C Mike Pouncey on IR. Sign C/G Ryan Groy

Oh Groy, this is bad news...

NFL: Houston Texans at Los Angeles Chargers Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The. Hits. Just. Keep. Coming.

Mike Pouncey left the game with a neck injury on Sunday. In his press conference on Monday, head coach Anthony Lynn said he was “concerned” about Pouncey and they were waiting on further diagnosis from doctors.

Apparently that diagnosis was bad. With the Chargers placing Pouncey on IR, their 2 best offensive linemen are now not playing for extended periods of time.

On the positive side, Forrest Lamp’s time has come. Obviously this isn’t the way any of us or even Lamp would have liked this to happen, but going forward Lamp is going to be the LG and Dan Feeney will be at C. Luckily for the Chargers, they ran this combo in practice a lot, got a bunch of reps like this in the preseason, and more than a quarter in that configuration last week.

This is obviously reaching epic levels of bad luck for the Chargers. With the current state of the coaching, and the positions and level of players the injuries have occurred at, a successful season is looking like a very uphill battle.
