Los Angeles Chargers at Tennessee Titans open thread

NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers at Los Angeles Chargers Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The 2-4 Los Angeles Chargers travel to Nashville to take on the 2-4 Tennessee Titans in a battle of two of the AFC’s more mediocre teams. Both teams had significantly higher expectations than they have managed to reach through the season’s first 6 weeks. In Tennessee, they have even benched their starting quarterback, Marcus Mariota. Instead, the Chargers will face former Dolphin Ryan Tannehill. On the Los Angeles sideline, Anthony Lynn and company are just hoping to avoid exceeding last season’s loss total before we even get to Halloween.

Philip Rivers will have to survive at least one more week without Russell Okung protecting his blindside and will instead have to continue relying on Trent Scott. Rivers has at times this year started seeing ghosts while in the pocket thanks to the generally terrible quality of pass protection. Defensively, Gus Bradley is going to have to rely on disappointing rookie Jerry Tillery since he will be without veteran tackle Brandon Mebane and Justin Jones, the latter of whom has arguably been the team’s best defensive tackle his season.
