Following their 23-17 Wild Card round victory over the Baltimore Ravens, the Los Angeles Chargers are set to take on the AFC East champion New England Patriots. The current line which opened at Patriots -5 is now down to Patriots -4.5 with 78% of early money on the Chargers side of the line.
The over/under for the game is between 47 and 48 depending on your bookmaker of choice. This week’s game is expected rather obviously to be higher scoring in nature than today’s contest was. Lamar Jackson and his mediocre skill position corps are not quite on the same level as Tom Brady and co. And on the other side of the ball, the Patriots defense is barely playing the same sport as the Ravens defense.
The Chargers are underdogs for good reason. Bill Belichick’s Patriots are undefeated at home this year, and they have a playoff history that few in history can match up with. Still, the Chargers would appear to be more competitive than the current line would suggest and it would be surprising if it does not move closer.
