On Monday, Pro Football Focus released their “Team of the Preseason” rosters as they highlighted the highest-graded players at every position on offense and defense. Yesterday, I highlighted the selection of WR J.J. Jones as the team’s KR/PR selection. Today, it’s one of the veterans who finds themselves given the distinction as Russell Okung was named to the list as the team’s left tackle. He graded out as an 89.4, just a hair under “elite” (90+ rating).

Although any accolades given based on events during the preseason are essentially irrelevant, it still means someone is doing something right. Frankly, given that it’s at a position of such importance, we should still feel a small sense warm-and-fuzziness.
This will be Okung’s third year with the Bolts and the impact he has had on this unit is pretty obvious. After being one of, if not, the weakest position groups on the team over the last several seasons, this group was #1 in sacks allowed in 2017 as they gave up a league-low 18 total sacks.
