Cardale Jones survived the first round of cuts as the Los Angeles Chargers trimmed their roster down to 53, but he was one of the first to go as they added additional players. Anthony Lynn and the Chargers are apparently quite partial to Jones, however, and he has been added to the practice squad.
Ian Rapoport reported via Twitter:
#Chargers QB Cardale Jones cleared waivers and is headed back to the LAC practice squad, source said. Good place to develop.

While it seems unlikely that Jones will ever be a starting-caliber NFL quarterback, he does have the physical tools that make a coach believe he can be molded into one. He also flashed the ability to make plays during the preseason in between his far less impressive reps.
All that being said, the former star quarterback from Ohio State is still wearing lightning bolts for the time being and Lynn will continue to try to give him the chance to become the player he has been known to tease that he could become.
