Keys to victory

Before the experts post their articles...

After watching both the Charger and Rams games .. and it appears this game is winnable.

On Offense

1.) Oline blocking: The Rams front 4 get sufficient pressure that Wade does not have to call blitzes often. Rivers is usually good at picking apart the mismatch when defenses blitz. Some sacks and pressures are inevitable, but Rivers needs to get Wade to call more blitzes to open up the short passing game.

2.) Slot receivers/RBs/TEs: If there is a weakness in this Rams defense, it is their linebackers. With Barron out, test out their LBs. We seem to have a few weapons in the slot with emergence of Flat Gorden (bad joke!)

3.) Stop the bloody hard count on 4th down: I cant remember the last time Rivers drew someone offside with a hard count..so please stop trying and stop burning timeouts!! Its almost like Rivers trying an RPO.

On Defense:

Other than the obvious cover Gurley and Brandin Cooks themes..

1.) Pressure Goff: Easier said than done. He seems to force throws when pressured instead of throwing it away. Footwork goes haywire. Ingram will be double teamed, so 33 and 42 are probably the key here. Sometimes I wonder if Addae show just show blitz on every other play..he is useless in the secondary :-(

2.) Cover the flat: Goff always looks for Kupp when under pressure. And Kupp usually delivers..and he was always open against the Cardinals. I think our LBs not named Emmanuel are upto the task. Robert Woods is also a target in the flat

3.) Misdirection: It is a copy cat league and the Chargers are usually ending up as the sucker. Both the Gus and Casey pressers talked about this..so the chargers better be ready for this.
