Joey Bosa Has Second-Best Chance to Win NFL DPOY. Ingram, Hayward Snubbed.

Bosa, Mack, Donald all tied for 2nd-best odds behind J.J. Watt.

The good people over at Bovada just released their odds for the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year Award and third-year DE Joey Bosa is tied with the RaidersKhalil Mack and the RamsAaron Donald with the second best chance to win the title with 11/2 odds.

All three superstars are behind Houston’s J.J. Watt (5/1) who is coming off another year burdened by injury. Some may say this is a stretch to list Watt as the favorite since he hasn’t played a full season in several years, but we all know just how good he can be when he’s anywhere close to 100%.

The BroncosVon Miller rounds out the top five players on the list with 9/1 odds.

The most surprising thing on this list, however, is the complete exclusion of fellow Charger EDGE Melvin Ingram and CB Casey Hayward. After a year that saw both Ingram and Bosa put together their best seasons to date, one would expect to find the two on a list that usually favors players who are able to rack up sacks.

The case for Hayward being one of, if not, the biggest snub of them all is the fact he is only 2 years removed from leading the league in interceptions while also coming off a 2017 season that saw him finish the year as the #1 rated cornerback in the NFL by Pro Football Focus.

I also made sure to check that this wasn’t a situation where only one player can make the list from each of the 32 teams. This is certainly not the case as the Jacksonville Jaguars have CB Jalen Ramsey, DE Calais Campbell, and LB Telvin Smith while the Minnesota Vikings boast CB Xavier Rhodes, S Harrison Smith, and DE Everson Griffin.

I’m not sure what the fine people in Vegas were thinking when they accumulated this list but the disrespect of the Chargers runs rampant with this one.
