The Los Angeles Chargers tonight play host to the New Orleans Saints. We should expect extended looks from the Chargers projected starters including second-year offensive lineman Forrest Lamp who will see his first action of the preseason. Philip Rivers has looked very sharp thus far and one would hope he will continue his impressive play, but most importantly we will hope he stays completely healthy.
Mike Williams has shown us all why the Chargers spent a high draft pick on him last year and it will be exciting to watch him again as he tries to carry that momentum through this week and onto the regular season. The competition at running back behind Melvin Gordon has been worth watching and should continue to be tonight.
On defense, we get to see rookie Justin Jones take the field and without Darius Philon suited up he should get a lot of playing time to shake off the rust and prove that he belongs. Overall, the defense is in for a serious test against the Saints offense and they’ll be without their top corners, so it could be a struggle.
