The luckiest and unluckiest team scorers of 2017 - Daniel Kelley
I’ll be beating the drum for the Chargers all offseason — I think there’s a decent chance this is the best team in the AFC. The Chargers were maybe the league’s unluckiest team in 2017, as evidenced above. They’ve already attempted to address their kicking issues by bringing in Caleb Sturgis and Roberto Aguayo to compete for the job this offseason, added Mike Pouncey to hopefully help at center, and should get Forrest Lamp back healthy for 2018.

How Antonio Gates changed the tight end position - Eric Williams
“There’s nothing left for him to prove,” Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers told the team’s website. “He did it all. He was a championship player. On the outside, people will remember him for the catches and yards, but he was so much more than that to me. Just the day-to-day interactions that we had, and the fun we had, I couldn’t be more thankful.”

Los Angeles Chargers depth chart: Derwin James slated to start - Eric Williams
King likely will get reps here as well, as the Chargers try to figure out how to get the best 11 defenders on the field. We should see a lot of experimentation with rotations during offseason work and training camp, but for now I believe James, the Bolts’ first-round draft pick, will start at free safety.

Top Takeaways from GM Tom Telesco on "Schein on Sports" - Hayley Elwood
“Significantly higher than where we took him, but everyone’s boards are a little different.... So, it’s all about how the player fits in your scheme. I know with us, the safety position requires a lot of different responsibilities. It’s a tough position for us to scout because they’re asked to do so much. A player like Derwin, as far as what he can do in the run game and the fact that us and many teams play so much nickel that your safety has to almost tackle like a linebacker sometimes.

This Chargers defense is ready to compete - Darrell Reese Jr
Adding James with to of the league’s best secondaries is going to be a scary sight. Gus has to be itching to get James on the field. The team sees that James can be plugged all over the field just as Desmond King was. Both players show similarities and can blitz the quarterback when asked to do so.
