The greatest running back in Chargers history thinks the greatest tight end in Chargers history should retire as a Charger. TMZ reported that LaDainian Tomlinson says that although Antonio Gates can still play that he ought to call it quits:
“I think he should retire a Charger,” Tomlinson said ... “I definitely think he still can play, though.”
”[Gates] became known as one of the greatest Chargers ever. I would hate to see him put on another uniform. It just doesn’t seem right.”
Most Chargers fans probably agree with both sentiments. I know I do. Gates obviously still has the ability to play in the NFL, but he is well past his prime and it is going to be hard to watch him suit up for another franchise.
What do you think? Should Antonio Gates retire as a Charger or should he continue to pursue signing with another team this offseason? Vote in the poll and let us know in the comments.
