The Los Angeles Chargers have announced their 2018 NFL offseason program dates. There are three distinct phases of the offseason program.
PHASE 1 - Beginning the week of April 16
For the first two weeks, the team is restricted to physical rehabilitation and strength and conditioning work.
PHASE 2 - Beginning the week of May 7
Here we get to see three weeks of on-field work including drills and individual player instruction. In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, the team may not engage in live contact or “team offense vs. team defense” drills.
Though the specific date is yet to be scheduled, rookie minicamp will also occur during this phase.
PHASE 3 – Beginning the week of May 22
The final phase includes four weeks of OTAs (organized team practice activity). There is still no live contact allowed, but those previously banned “offense vs. defense” drills will take place.
Per Chargers.com, OTAs are scheduled for:
- May 22-24
- May 29-31
- June 4-7
Finally, Chargers minicamp will run three days starting on June 12, 2018.
