Los Angeles Chargers Select C Scott Quessenberry

NCAA Football: Cactus Bowl-Kansas State vs UCLA Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

With the 155th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers select UCLA center Scott Quessenberry. He has decent size, good balance, and is a consistent performer. He is not particularly powerful, but he is reasonably effective as a run blocker. He could theoretically also play at guard. This would seem to be competition for the backup role with Spencer Pulley.

Quessenberry’s strength is as a pass protector. He is distinctly average in space and does not look great when climbing to the second level. He missed the 2015 season with surgery on both shoulders. This selection would seem to be Tom Telesco looking toward the future after Mike Pouncey (or at least after Mike Pouncey gets hurt).
