Los Angeles Chargers Select LB Uchenna Nwosu

NCAA Football: Cotton Bowl-Ohio State vs Southern California Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

With the 48th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers select USC’s Uchenna Nwosu. There was a lot of talent on the board at positions of need, but the Chargers have chosen to go with Nwosu who will likely slot in as the SAM and take over for Kyle Emanuel. He is a decent edge player, but this is an incredibly unexciting selection.

Nwosu had a very good 40-time for a linebacker and a decent broad jump, but his vertical was mediocre and he also lacks ideal size. This feels like a low floor, low ceiling draft pick, which is really odd in the middle of the second round.

In theory, Nwosu is versatile but versatility is less valuable when you are not particularly good at anything. He cannot set the edge and his pass rushing ability is limited.

What do you think? Do you like the pick or were you hoping for someone else?
