Los Angeles Chargers star running back Melvin Gordon left Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos with an ankle injury during the 4th quarter. At the time, there was some fear that one of the team’s most important players could be lost or at least slowed down for the playoffs. According to Melvin Gordon, via Eric Williams’ Twitter, there is no reason for worry.
I talked to Melvin Gordon and he said that he just tweaked his ankle and could have went back in the game, but coaching staff held him out. Gordon said he’s good to go for next week.

Thankfully, the man who takes the Chargers offense from good to great will be available to play when the Chargers take on the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday morning during the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs. While Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson are more than capable runners, Gordon brings a particular combination of ability and energy to the offense that neither has been able to replicate in his absence, and against the Ravens’ stout defense the Chargers will need that extra gear that only he can bring.
