Chargers DT Corey Liuget carted off field with knee injury

NFL: New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Chargers Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Chargers interior defensive lineman Corey Liuget has suffered an injury to his right knee. He stayed down on the field following a play earlier and was in visible pain as he was attended to by the training staff. Eventually, he got back to his feet and proceeded gingerly off the field. Once on the sideline, Liuget was taken via cart to the locker room for further evaluation. He is questionable to return.

Without Liuget, the defensive line is particularly thin today as rookie defensive lineman Justin Jones was inactive for today’s game. Hopefully, the offense (which just scored a Keenan Allen receiving touchdown to retake the lead) can take some pressure off the defense and maybe put the Broncos in a situation where they have to throw the ball which would reduce some of the impact felt by the loss of Liuget.

At this point, we do not yet know if Liuget will be able to return.

UPDATE: Corey Liuget has been ruled out and will not return.
