On the second play from scrimmage, the Los Angeles Chargers’ most consistent linebacker, Denzel Perryman, suffered what appeared to be an injury to his left knee. He had to be helped off the field and we do not yet know the severity of the injury. It is as yet unknown if he will be able to return to today’s game against the Oakland Raiders.
The Chargers are not exactly deep at linebacker and the loss of Perryman is not one the team is likely to be able to sustain if they want to remain competitive, so hopefully this is not especially serious. It did not, however, look good. Given the manner in which his knee moved, it looked like it could be an injury to his ACL. It is still possible that we are just looking at a possible bone bruise, but this could be a season-ender in the worst case scenario.
