Chargers at Raiders inactives: Trevor Williams is out

NFL: International Series-Tennessee Titans at Los Angeles Chargers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers are taking on the Oakland Raiders today and now we know who won’t be suiting up for the game. The inactives have been released:

Starting cornerback Trevor Williams who was sidelined Friday with a knee injury has officially been ruled out. Thankfully, the Raiders are a little lighter on receivers than they used to be since they dealt away Amari Cooper, and Williams has not been particularly good this season anyway (certainly has not been up to the standard he set last season). Joey Bosa remains unable to play, but we knew he wasn’t going to be ready.

Somewhat more disappointing is that second-year offensive lineman Forrest Lamp apparently still does not merit being active on game days. It’s one thing to not mess with the starting group that has been relatively successful, but you would hope that by now the former second-round pick would at least have worked his way up the depth chart to be a primary backup given his ability to play multiple spots on the line.

The rest of the inactives are the players you are probably only familiar with from reading inactives lists, so that’s generally a positive.
