At the end of every week during the regular season, both the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference provide recognition to the shining players.
Offensive Player of the Week. Defensive Player of the Week. Special Teams Player of the Week. Rookie of the Week.
The Defensive Player of the Week for Week 9 of this season was given to one of the Bolts: Cornerback Desmond King.
The 2017 5th round pick out of Iowa shined on Sunday in Seattle as he picked off Russell Wilson and returned it 42 yards for touchdown. The defensive touchdown put the Chargers ahead by 15 points with just under seven minutes left in the game. The interception ultimately decided the game as the Seahawks came roaring in a near comeback victory.
Nonetheless, King’s touchdown was the signature play from a terrific four quarters he had of brilliant coverage.
The Chargers sit at 6-2 and will travel to Oakland on Sunday to take on the tanking Raiders.
Congratulations young stud, you deserved it. Let’s continue the superb defense and let’s continue showing the NFL world that you are a force to be reckoned with.
