Well, who do you guys think will come out on top in the AFC West division this year?
Matthew Stanley: I think the Chiefs will win the AFC West this year. The Chargers are 1 or 2 injuries away from not making it to 8-8 again. The Raiders have a bad defense. The Broncos offense is going to be limited by their QB play. The Chiefs have a well-rounded team, a good coach, and some depth behind them.
Richard Wade: I lean toward the Raiders this season. They have the best offense in the division and good offensive play is more consistent from year to year. The Broncos are awful. The Chiefs are a couple bumpy Alex Smith games away from a quarterback controversy. And the Chargers don't quite have the depth yet to handle any kind of injury problems.
Jamie Sewell: Chargers. Be bold, guys. The Raiders won 9 one score games last year, and statistically, that's more to do with luck than any skill. Expect that to regress towards the mean this year, and combine that with a likelihood that they're hit harder with injuries this year (apart from Carr going down at the end, they were pretty injury free last year) and a bottom five defense, and the Raiders could find themselves under .500 very easily. The Broncos defense is great, but they're not going to win more than 8 games with Trevor Siemian at QB. The Chiefs are consistently good and should be again this year, but I wonder if cutting Jeremy Maclin was a step too far. There's not a lot of talent on the offensive skill positions outside of Travis Kelce (I remain unconvinced about Tyreek Hill). The Chargers are the most complete team in this division on paper, but paper doesn't win you games. This needs to be the year they finally stay healthy and live up to potential. I'm going to trust that it happens.
Garrett Sisti: I think the Chiefs will win the division, their roster moved laterally this offseason without taking any major blows and an Andy Reid-coached team is always good for 10 wins. I think the Oakland offense is gonna be good but I have a hard time believing their defense won't let them down a lot this year, they'll finish 2nd.
Aaron Woolley: I have to side with Richard and say that the Raiders will win the west. I am huge on Carr as one of the next best quarterbacks in the league, and their defense is nothing to scoff at either. I would also not be surprised if the Chiefs and Chargers finish 1st and 2nd respectively in the wildcard race.
Michael Peterson: I'm going with the Raiders this year. I like their offense over the Chiefs and I believe KC's defense takes a step back without Poe in the middle. I don't see the Chiefs winning the division with a rookie running back and no real receivers on the outside beside Tyreek Hill. Andy Reid is a great coach but I can't see him pulling out the division with such a lack of weapons. Raiders will be slinging the ball around on offense and their defense just needs to be average.
Kyle Posey: Chiefs should win this division by a game or 2. They have the best coach. The most prepared coach. Plenty of talent and they'll make the least amount of mistakes out of everyone.
Jason Michaels: I think that the Chargers are going to win the AFC West. The Broncos are over-rated and lack a QB. Their still-stellar defense is not going to solve those problems. The Raiders are talented, but I think Carr is going to be shaken up from his injuries last season and, historically, big QB contracts are magnets for season-ending injuries. The Chiefs are trending downhill, though it's not a sharp decline. I think that they are the biggest threat to win over the Chargers, but that's a coinflip that I'll give to the more offense-ready Chargers.
Ruben J. Gonzalez: The Chargers will win the AFC West.... if they stay completely healthy. But since that's as unlikely as a team losing 4 straight games while holding a 4th qtr lead is, I will default and say that the Chiefs will win the AFC West. Health is an important factor for the team that will win the division, and looking around, it seems like the only competent backup QB in the division is on the Chiefs roster. If any of the other teams QB gets hurt and is gone for the season, so is their hope of any January games.
Louis Gorini: The winner of the AFC West is between the Raiders and Chiefs. That being said, I feel as if KC wins the west this year mainly because Andy Reid is the best coach in the division. Reid's scheme can make up for the "lack of weapons" on offense and their defense is still a top tier defense. As for the Raiders, their defense will let them down and their running game will fade at the end of the year. The Broncos will not be able to overcome their subpar QB play and their defense is not as dominant as it has been over the last 2 years. That brings us to the Chargers. LA will be better than last year but have way too many obstacles to overcome (rookie coach, the move to LA, and lack of roster depth). So your 2017 AFC West champs are the Kansas City Chiefs
Jamie Hoyle: I have the Chiefs going 11-5 and winning the division. They have a fantastic defense, an offense with burgeoning playmakers (Tyreek Hill, Chris Conley, and Kareem Hunt) that doesn't make a lot of mistakes, and they're always among the best in the league on special teams. Sounds like a recipe for success to me.
Daniel Stebbins: I'm going to say that the Raiders win the division. Their defense isn't great, but that offense has the potential to be deadly. If they can get just enough pass rush from Mack they can have success. The Chiefs/Chargers will battle for 2nd place. Chargers starters would make them AFC West champs, but we know injuries will happen. Chiefs are a team full players that, while not far above average, will perform enough to get them wins. Whenever Mahomes becomes the starter though, watch out. Broncos are the cellar dweller. It's not hard to see that.
