If you haven’t seen it already, some news just broke regarding the big-bodied receiver out of Clemson, courtesy this Rappa-Bomb:
Source: #Chargers first round WR Mike Williams will come off PUP and be on the active roster. Big news.

First off, I’d like to say it stinks that this news had to break courtesy of Ian Rapoport. It just doesn’t really have the same ring to it as Schefty-Bomb.
Second, not to plagiarize Rapoport, but this certainly is big news. Back in early August, reports slated Mike for an October return a la Joey Bosa from a season ago. In taking Williams off the PUP, this could mean two things. Either they’re putting him on the active roster in order to place him on IR, which is pretty unlikely, or he’s on—or even ahead of—schedule for the aforementioned premiere.
Rapoport would add to his report (is that what tweets qualify as these days?), stating:
Since #Chargers WR Mike Williams suffered his disc injury, the belief was no surgery & a return for October. That’s what LA is getting.

Should Mike Williams stay on the active roster, it’ll be interesting to see how many receivers the Bolts carry. Dontrelle Inman seemed like the odd man out not too long ago due to trade rumors, but since it now appears they were unable to successfully deal him, logic entails that he’ll return to the team, right?
Unless they really like Geremy Davis or Jamaal Jones, it’s hard to see them pick one of the duo over Inman. Once Mike is healthy, the offense will be five receivers deep between him, Keenan Allen, Tyrell Williams, Travis Benjamin, and Inman, assuming he returns. My bet is they go with Davis as the sixth guy on the depth chart, though his job won’t be very secure come October.
