The Los Angeles Chargers have played about as bad as you could have imagined for the first 30 minutes of this game and yet they find themselves trailing the Kansas City Chiefs by only 7 points. The StubHub Center is roughly 40-45% full of Chiefs fans and there remain plenty of empty seats.
Philip Rivers started the game by making a case for retiring as he threw three interceptions early. The defense struggled with tackling and Kareem Hunt looked like he would run all over them but they mostly held strong while being given short fields to defend and having the special teams give the Chiefs a fresh set of downs after a missed field goal.
The offense pulled it together a little bit late and drove for a field goal that left this as a one-score game at half time. It feels like they’re losing by 20 but they are still in this game as the second half starts.
