Poor tackling must improve for Chargers' defense to flourish - Eric Williams
“Tackling, that’s fundamental football from Day 1,” Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said. “You’ve been doing that all your life. We just have to do a better job of tackling guys in space. And we try to keep one another fresh.
Keys to the Game: Dolphins vs. Chargers - Ricky Henne
“Jay's a heck of a quarterback. He's got a big arm. He has some escapability. I remember him running around in Denver, keeping the ball. He made a lot of plays off schedule. To me that's when he's most dangerous. Those are the plays you can't prepare for. He's kind of a wild card. He didn't play a lot in the preseason. I expect him to pick up where he left off when he left the league.”
Chargers' Mike Williams eyes October for first NFL appearance - Eric Williams
"I’m fully anticipating the crowd to show up and just be dynamic," Lynn said. "It’s going to be an exciting game -- a lot of energy. We’re looking forward to it, our first home game."
Extra Points: Vikes, Bolts, Raiders, Lions - Connor Byrne
Verrett played nearly all of the Chargers’ defensive snaps (63 of 69) in their loss to Denver on Monday, but head coach Anthony Lynn held him out of practice Friday and stated that the corner is “just not right.” Lynn added that he has “no idea” how long Verrett will be on the shelf, only revealing that the player is “week-to-week.” Verrett, 26, is less than a year removed from the knee surgery he underwent last October.
Chargers primed for L.A. debut at 27,000-seat StubHub Center - Eric Williams
“We’re all excited about it,” Rivers said. “We’re excited about really this one being the first of three in a row. It’s really a chance for us to establish ourselves here in L.A. as a team that people want to root for and pull for.
