It’s finally game day! The Los Angeles Chargers will officially open their season tonight in Denver as they take on the division rival Denver Broncos. Seeing as how it is week one, the Chargers will presumably be the healthiest they will be all season. That doesn't mean there are no injuries to report, however.
We’ll start with the obvious. First round selection Mike Williams will not suit up for the Chargers this week. Again, this should come as no surprise. Although Williams managed to avoid the PUP list to start the season, Telesco mentioned at the time that Williams was still a couple of weeks away from practicing. So we will have to wait a little while longer to see the Chargers new weapon in action.
Williams fellow wide receiver Dontrelle Inman is also listed on the team's official injury report with a groin injury. He has been a limited participant in practice all week and is listed as questionable for tonight's game. It would pose a bit of a problem if Inman is unable to go, as the Chargers would essentially only be fielding 3 healthy wide receivers come kickoff.
Tight end Sean McGrath is also on the injury report as he deals with a knee injury. Like Inman, McGrath was limited in practice this week and is listed as questionable to play. Unlike Inman, the possibility of McGrath not playing shouldn't pose any significant issues for the Chargers with Hunter Henry and Antonio Gates above him on the depth chart.
On the defensive side of the ball, safety Tre Boston is listed as questionable for tonight's matchup. It appears he suffered a calf injury of some sort during practice this week. He was not listed on the injury report on Thursday and was listed as a full participant Friday and limited Saturday. The Chargers need their starting FS out there, and hopefully, he is able to debut for the Chargers tonight.
DE Jerry Attaochu is listed as questionable on the injury report after being limited in practice all week. Attaochu is 3rd on the depth chart at the moment behind Melvin Ingram and Chris McCain. It will be interesting to see how much playing time he gets if and when he is able to play.
Notable injuries for the Denver Broncos:
RB Devontae Booker - Wrist - OUT
DE Jared Crick - Back - OUT
QB Paxton Lynch - Shoulder - OUT
