PODCAST: The Los Angeles Chargers’ pass rush could be dominant

New, comments

John Gennaro gives three reasons why he thinks the 2017 L.A. Chargers could end up in the playoffs.

NFL: Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday I gave you reasons for concern heading into the season. Today? Reasons that I think the Los Angeles Chargers could end up in the playoffs this year.

My list, which is obviously expanded upon in the podcast below, is as follows:

  • Philip Rivers
  • Playmakers, specifically the tandem of Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram
  • The crumbling AFC West

This thought experiment led me to an interesting question, so I’m going to pair it with the other question that’s been bouncing around in my head (concerning LaDainian Tomlinson) the last few days and will await your answers in the comments below...

  1. Without looking it up, can you think of anyone that has won an NFL MVP Award but not made it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame? (I came up with Rich Gannon, but couldn’t come up with another.)
  2. Who is the best quarterback in the AFC West this year? (Lots to factor in here. Rivers vs. Carr is the obvious answer, but have we considered the possibility that Rivers is declining?)

I look forward to this conversation...
