Three Chargers Ranked Among the NFL’s Top 100

The Los Angeles Chargers players were ranked among the NFL’s top 100 players of 2017 according to this list produced by NFL.com and voted upon by NFL players. It should come as no surprise that the Chargers who made the list were breakout star cornerback Casey Hayward, rookie star pass rusher Joey Bosa, and the Chargers’ all-time leading passer Philip Rivers.

Bosa just made the list at #100 which seems rather uncharitable given that he was the Chargers’ best player last season. Rivers came in at #73 despite one of the worst seasons of his career. And Hayward was ranked 64th after leading the NFL in interceptions.

There were two notable omissions in Melvin Ingram and Melvin Gordon. You could make an argument that either could or should have been among the top 100, but the Chargers were an awful football team that finished with one of the worst records in the NFL and neither player was so good that you ought to feel compelled to make the case for them as the fourth or fifth Charger to be represented on this sort of list.

What do you think? Did the players get things right? Who was ranked too high? Too low?
