Which top rookies are immediate fantasy starters? - Daniel Kelley
I listed Williams’ new quarterback, Philip Rivers, as one of the winners of the NFL draft, with the Chargers adding Williams and bolstering their offensive line. The problem for Williams, though, is that he becomes one of several mouths to feed for the Chargers, joining a receiving corps that already includes Keenan Allen, Tyrell Williams, Travis Benjamin, Dontrelle Inman, Antonio Gates, and Hunter Henry. On a long-term scale, Williams has a good chance to be a strong performer, but to start his career, he might well be in a too-many-cooks situation.
The biggest remaining need for each AFC team - John Kosko
If CB Jason Verrett can stay healthy, the Chargers will have one of the best secondaries in the NFL with few holes to fill on the defensive side. While the offensive line still raises concerns, they at least addressed the holes via the draft in OT/G Forrest Lamp and G Dan Feeney. Currently Corey Liuget and Damion Square are slated as DIs in their nickel package; neither graded well as pass-rushers, and they combined for three sacks and seven hits in 2016. With one of the best duos on the outside in Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram, if Los Angeles is able to get some interior pressure, the defense, which might already be playoff-caliber, could take it to top-five status.
If healthy, Chargers can win AFC West - Eric Williams
The Chargers are favored in only five games according to the sharps in Vegas and have a projected win total of eight games according to Football Outsiders. So my 9-7 prediction is already on the sunnier side if you look at the numbers from some of the people who make their living predicting the outcome of games.
Post-draft Power Rankings: Top 3 remain the same; Steelers move up - ESPN.com
Every other team in the AFC West is in the top 10. None of their quarterbacks is as good as this team's is. Philip Rivers needs help, and the Chargers got him some with Mike Williams and a couple of guards in the first three rounds of the draft. This team blew a lot of fourth-quarter leads last season; hold half of them and this ranking is way too low.
Chargers RB Melvin Gordon should be a fantasy stud in 2017 - Eric Williams
Lynn will do a better job of keeping Gordon fresh throughout the season by sprinkling in his stable of running backs throughout the game, including Branden Oliver, Andre Williams and Kenjon Barner. So, unlike last year, Gordon should not wear down by the end of the season.
