Los Angeles Chargers Have Signed Five of Seven Draft Picks

Earlier it was announced that the Chargers had avoided a prolonged Joey Bosa type of situation with this year’s first round pick, wide receiver Mike Williams. Now, they are announcing the signings of offensive guard Forrest Lamp, cornerback Desmond King, offensive tackle Sam Tevi, and defensive end Isaac Rochell.

The team’s third and fourth round picks, offensive guard Dan Feeney and safety Rayshawn Jenkins, remain unsigned but are still expected to be at rookie mini camp starting tomorrow.

It is definitely encouraging to see the Chargers getting their picks signed and into camp in a timely manner. Especially given that Williams will need time to develop a rapport with Philip Rivers, it’s important that he will not be missing any time. Forrest Lamp, Desmond King, and the still unsigned Dan Feeney and Rayshawn Jenkins all have varying potential to start as soon as this season. Lamp and Feeney could be the starting guards from day one. King has the opportunity to force his way into the starting nickel role behind Casey Hayward and Jason Verrett. And Jenkins will likely have the chance to take over for Jahleel Addae if he misses any time due to injury.
