Will the Chargers Sign Mike Williams Before Training Camp?

Last year, the then San Diego Chargers were involved in an incredibly long and incredibly embarrassing contractual stalemate with their first round pick. Third overall selection Joey Bosa missed all of training camp and most of the preseason despite the fact that rookie deals are now all but decided prior to the draft itself. The hold up in that situation had to do with disagreements over bonus payment timing and offset language. That makes sense since those are the only things that are not predetermined by the collective bargaining agreement.

This year, the now Los Angeles Chargers had the seventh overall selection in the NFL Draft and they spent it on Clemson wide receiver Mike Williams. He remains unsigned at the moment (as do the vast majority of first round picks, so don’t panic just yet) and it remains to be seen if he will make any demands that the Chargers are unwilling to meet, but last year’s actions can’t help but be on the minds of all Chargers fans as we wait to see if there is another holdout.

What do you think? Will the Chargers have another holdout on their hands? When will you start to get nervous?
