As we noted last night, a lot of talent has fallen to the top of round 2. And as we all know from years of watching Chargers’ drafts under Tom Telesco, the general manager fixates on players and hates fourth round picks. Forrest Lamp and Budda Baker, but probably more the former than the latter, are potential targets of the Chargers on day 2. Both could easily be selected in the first five picks tonight.
So, if the Chargers really want one of those players, and there is reason to believe they do, they are going to have to give up a day 3 pick to pay for the right to take them. Based on the draft value chart, if they are going to give up their 4th this year, they should be able to move all the way up to the 33rd overall pick, so don’t be late tuning into the draft tonight.
What do you think? Will the Chargers trade up? Should they?
