The 2017 NFL season schedule has officially be released, and teams now know exactly when and where they will be playing. Now that we do the exact dates of each Chargers game, the staff from BFTB decided to talk a little about which game they are most excited for:
Cody Young: The game I'm most looking forward to is week against the Philadelphia Eagles. My best friend is a die-hard Eagles fan, so we're going to be making a big deal out of that game. Apart from that, the Eagles are a fun team to watch and should present a great matchup for the Chargers. I'm expecting a really exciting game, one that rivals the last time these two teams played in 2013 (and hopefully with the same result). And I'll definitely be looking to see how many times last year's 3rd over pick sacks last year's 2nd overall pick. Man, I'm already pumped up for that game.
Jamie Sewell: For me, it has to be that opening day game. Sure, it's always special to return to football after so long out, but it feels different for the Chargers, because how long has it been since we've actually seen the team at full strength? The whole country gets to see them go into Denver, with Mike McCoy on the opposing sideline watching his team (hopefully) crumble at the hands of Anthony Lynn's new look Chargers. This is a Chargers team who've won 9 games over the last two years and who are pretty much a consensus pick for last in the division - but how great would it be to shock the Broncos and send the world a message that this is a different Chargers team? I always love having the Chargers play on Primetime, and opening the season on it is extra special, even if it does mean a longer wait. I don't think I could have picked a better Week 1 game - the only downside for me is that the game won’t even start until 3:20 AM my time. Lot’s of coffee needed, I think.
Nathan Graber-Lipperman: Excited for @jets, @giants, and @pats. Go figured that the year I leave home is the year the Bolts actually play near me, as all three of those games are only 2-2.5 hours away. But if I can make it home for one of 'em, I'll be super pumped.
Louis Gorini: For me, I'm most excited for the Chargers to play the Giants frankly because I will be there being that it's an hour and a half away from me. Why I'm also stoked is because I'm sill bitter that Eli acted like a baby during the NFL draft and nothing brings me more joy than watching the Chargers beat the overrated Eli who is winless against them. Rivers will once again show that he is a better QB than Eli.
Ryan Doyle: I'm looking most forward to the NY Giants game. I live close to MetLife and I cannot wait I see the Bolts in person. I want to see Joey Bosa get his hands on Eli Manning. They play the Jets in MetLife later in the year too. That's a distant second though because it's the Jets.
Ruben: I'm looking forward to the Thanksgiving game against the Dallas Cowboys. I'm gonna eat lots of turkey, lots of stuffing. A little of this and a lot of that. And then I'm gonna wash it all down with a Chargers victory.
Michael Peterson: I gotta go with the game on Thanksgiving against Dallas. Watching your team on a holiday that centers around stuffing yourself to the point of delirium? Sign me up. Also, there's family and other things to feel good about, I guess. Can you imagine a better statement game? Coming away with a victory on one of the most popular days for watching football? The Zeke vs Gordon theme will be pretty cool as well.
Daniel Stebbins: It has to be the Dolphins game for me. I know this may not be a popular opinion, but I'm excited to see the NFL environment in that type (read: small) of a field. Of course, I'm excited about the Thanksgiving game, and NYE against the Raiders, but the first game in LA has me pretty excited. I may try to make a few this year, this being one of them.
Matthew Stanley: For me, it's the Dallas game on Thanksgiving. My birthday is the day before, my Dad is a die hard Cowboy fan, and since it's finally my favorite team playing my wife can't tell me I'm not allowed to watch football until after dinner. Thank you, NFL.
Jason Michaels: The Eagles game is definitely the most intriguing. They are a surprisingly young and dynamic team and play with a lot of heart. However, they're still recovering from a full rebuild. They handed the Steelers a crushing defeat, the Chargers lost to Cleveland. Both teams are potential roller coasters, which means there's bound to be thrills for one side or the other.
Richard Wade: I think the Thanksgiving Day game against the Cowboys in Dallas is definitely the most exciting game on the schedule. The Chargers have not played on Thanksgiving since the AFL/NFL merger, so it is a bit of a big deal and I am looking forward to watching it.
