In An Alternate Reality: Players’ Real World Jobs

If some of our favorite players didn’t end up as Chargers, what else would they have done? Let’s take a look.

NFL: San Diego Chargers-OTA Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Because it’s that time of year and “breaking news” consists of Branden Oliver changing his jersey number, and whether the Chargers should or should not trade for loud mouthed Richard Sherman, we are now scraping the bottom of the theoretical barrel of topics. What better time would there be then, to talk about what jobs current Chargers players would hold if they ended up in an alternate universe. Enjoy.

Philip Rivers - Rancher

His current occupation is quarterback of the newly minted Los Angeles Chargers, but if he weren't a quarterback, would any of us really be surprised if he was a rancher? Rivers is someone who seems to like living a simple life, and wants to stay out of the limelight as much as possible. He is a hard worker, is from the country, and has a ton of kids. He could probably put a monopoly on farms in the country if he employed his family as workers.

Melvin Ingram - Rapper

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, we have Melvin Ingram, who loves living the lavish lifestyle, and who has tried his hand in rapping. I can’t say I enjoy his music, but I suppose he would probably try for a successful rap career in an alternate universe.

Keenan Allen - Entrepreneur/Singer

Keenan Allen is always looking up and working hard to make sure he’s as successful as possible. He has a chip on his shoulder, and that would play perfectly into him owning a business and singing on the side. If you haven’t seen it, he posts short clips of his singing from time to time, and it’s actually pretty damn good.

Josh Lambo - Professional Soccer

I mean, it was his first profession. Lambo was a goalkeeper for FC Dallas when he was younger, and has been capped by the USA National Team at U17 and U20 level. He was released by Dallas without ever playing a game for them, but there's a good chance Lambo could have made a career out of soccer had he not turned his attention towards football.

Joey Bosa - Psychologist

If you've never heard Joey Bosa be interviewed, you're missing out. I don't think I've ever heard anybody more relaxed in my life. The man just exudes calmness. Bosa strikes me as someone who just wanders happily through life, living without a care in the world. Tell Bosa your problems, and he'll make everything okay. If not, at least he's got a very big shoulder to cry on.

Antonio Gates - Basketball player

Hey, did you know that Antonio Gates played basketball in college?

Brandon Mebane - Belly Dancer

No words are needed.
