The Chargers needed a left tackle, and in Russell Okung, they got a good one.
I'm told Russell Okung has agreed to go the #Chargers on a 4-year deal for $53M. Guaranteed $25M

For the #Chargers and OT Russell Okung, it’s a 4 year deal worth $53M, source said. $13.25M guaranteed.

Okung got paidddddddd. Rapoport had the updated numbers so that $13.25 is the guaranteed money. We’ll update this when the cap hits per year trickle in. Last year Okung was above average at his position and more importantly, he didn’t miss a game. I imagine we can expect King Dunlap to be cut now.
Okung is 29 and based on Bleacher Report’s Duke Manyweather who grades tackles, and consults with NFL teams, Okung was the 15th-best left tackle last year. Just a notch below former Bengal Andrew Whitworth.
Okung is steady across the board. He is athletic and can play in space. He also is powerful and gets good movement.

If Okung even plays like last year, this deal is well worth it. If he plays to his ceiling, this is a steal. He’s a good player and would’ve been the best player on the Chargers offensive line last year. So the team filled a big need today.
How do you feel about the signing?
