The Los Angeles Chargers Cannot Fix This Overnight

Once again, the Chargers are talking as if it is easy to go from cellar-dweller to division champion overnight.

I’ve heard a lot of people, including Los Angeles Chargers fans, players, coaches and executives, talk about how excited they are for the team’s current roster and their prospects in 2017.

They point out the incredible amount of close victories and assume the team will win those with a new coach, and maybe they will, but my point from last year remains: They have six really difficult games every season against the rest of their division.

I talked with Nate & The Noise on SB Nation this morning about the team’s roster cuts earlier this week as well as how quickly the Chargers can compete in the AFC West:

I sound crabby there and maybe it’s because the team left or maybe it is because I’m always crabby or maybe the 8:30 a.m. phone call was a little too early for me either way...I think I was right.

The Chargers are not going to catch up to the Broncos, Raiders, and Chiefs this offseason by adding Russell Okung. It’s going to be a while and the team’s front office is going to need to be patient and build through the draft.
