Today, Los Angeles Chargers (third string?) tight end Sean McGrath finally signed his exclusive rights tender which he received at the beginning of NFL free agency. On March 9, the Chargers tendered exclusive rights free agents safety Adrian Phillips, running back Andre Williams, tight ends Asante Cleveland and McGrath, and wide receivers Isaiah Burse and Geremy Davis. McGrath is the fourth to sign his tender following Cleveland, Davis, and Phillips.

McGrath came into the NFL in 2012 as an undrafted free agent out of Henderson State. He has appeared in games for the Seattle Seahawks (2012), Kansas City Chiefs (2013), and San Diego Chargers (2016). He has appeared in 34 games, making 14 starts, and has hauled in 28 of 42 targets for a career total of 327 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
He is clearly behind Antonio Gates and Hunter Henry on the Chargers depth chart but is presumably in competition with Cleveland and Jake McGee. Hopefully, there is still more competition on its way.
