Yahoo Sports’ Jay Busbee tweeted out a picture of former Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan from the Daytona 500 in which Ryan can be seen wearing a Chargers polo shirt. He suggested that people “start the rumors.” What could this mean? What does it mean?

Well, most likely, it means nothing. So, let us get that out of the way first. This almost certainly means nothing at all. But it’s February and nothing is happening, so let us also consider what it could mean. Gus Bradley is already the new defensive coordinator. George Stewart is already the Assistant Head Coach. Giff Smith is already the Defensive Line Coach (and Eric Henderson is the Assistant Defensive Line Coach). And Richard Smith is already the Linebackers Coach.
What does that leave for Rex Ryan? Well, nothing really. I sincerely doubt he is looking to become an assistant position coach at this point in his career and there are really no other obvious openings on the coaching staff.
