It is Week 17 in the NFL and the Los Angeles Chargers are still in the playoff hunt despite opening their season 0-4. They play host to the Oakland Raiders today in a game that many fear will look more like a home game for the visitors. The Chargers will finish with their first winning record in three years if they can defeat the Raiders for a second time. Add to that victory a pair of other games in the league going their way and the Chargers will be in the playoffs.

There was a point this season where people were wondering if hiring Anthony Lynn was a mistake. He was making rookie mistakes (as one would expect) and the Chargers’ culture of losing did not appear to be changing anytime soon. That point in the season feels like a very long time ago. The Chargers have won 8 of 11 with all three losses coming on the road against playoff teams. Regardless of the outcome of today’s game, this season has been a successful one for Lynn and the Chargers.
