Maybe I’m relying a little too much on my eyes and not enough on stats, which would be rare for me, but the starting QB of the Los Angeles Chargers no longer looks capable of leading this team to anything resembling team success.
Trust me, nobody is more upset about this development than me. I own two Philip Rivers jerseys. At one point, BFTB sold t-shirts that said “Real Men Throw Sidearm”. If my wife were pregnant with a boy, I would’ve lobbied for Philip as a name.
That being said, I don’t think Rivers has it anymore. Maybe he’s lost the love of it, or maybe the rest of the team has gotten worse along with him, but the passing game relies on him completely and he can’t carry them the way he used to.
Anyway, I might just be my normal self but I feel like yesterday’s win didn’t prove to me anything about the Chargers other than “they’re better than the New York Giants”, which isn’t much of an accomplishment.
Hopefully I’m wrong about both the team and the player.
